HBC.coin is a proof-of-work cryptocurrency, which was created in a very similar way to Bitcoin.  Our first block was mined on August 17 -2021 which simultaneously made HBC.coin one of the first industry-specific cryptocurrencies;  and marking the first use of blockchain within the cannabis/hemp and agriculture sectors.

HBC.coin’s initial plan was to create a decentralized open source network to ease the transition of the legal cannabis industry into the digital age and so on January 2022 news broke and the world began mining and supporting the Red.

By 2022 several companies in the HBC.cóin community have manufactured proprietary ATMs (pATMs) and are planned to operate in 2024 placed in various Colorado dispensaries, making HBC .coin one of the first crypto-centric decentralized organizations in history in having an exclusive interface with the public.  While this was solving existential problems for dispensary owners, it quickly became clear that the general public was not ready.

The cryptocurrency industry had yet to become mainstream and customer behavior was still solidly anchored around paying in cash.

In 2022, the technical team had to change the consensus algorithm from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake, thus aligning with the community premise of HBC.coin.

The transition to PoSxc 17 allowed anyone with a computer to support the network and be part of the movement instead of requiring extensive knowledge and specialized hardware.

PoSxc17 was also much lighter on electricity compared to traditional mining setups and therefore a much greener solution.
On January 17, 2022.

While this effort effectively promoted the anti-war values ​​of the community, it was also very profitable for the notoriety of the coin and the project as a whole.  The HBC.coin community grew 880% overnight.

On February 22, 2022, HBC.coin unexpectedly won over its main developer Ventry 17 due to their great proposals.  a seasoned programmer with Hyperledger experience who believed in the mission of HBC.coin
